A Breast Cancer Foundation:

Pink Pearl is a Charity group founded by Rouge Empire in Support of ICare Foundation (Miss Orode J Udughan CEO). It's target population is the Nigerian women community, to bring awareness of the deadly infection known as Breast Cancer. Aside from bringing awareness to women of this Nation, it's our goal to donate as many Mammograms to hospitals around the country and providing free treatment to those women already infected but can't afford the health care benefits.

The foundation which was launched on the 27th of December, 2007 currently holds annual Charity functions to create greater awareness, and encourage donations for this cause. These annual functions have continued till date, and it has certainly been welcomed with listening ears by some citizens of our great nation. Through these functions and from other sources, we've been able to purchase a brand new Mammorgram which was installed last year. We hope to be able to afford more of them as needed to attain our goal. Currently, outreach has started in the State of Delta, with several Breast Cancer campaigns for women of various Local Government Areas in the State starting on the 27th of July, 2009.

Nigeria is Our Hometown

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

Nigeria is our hometown, a nation that lacks accountability, needs abilities and encompasses so many possibilities. This is my nation, your nation, Nigeria.

We are the future generation, and when I say this, I don't mean it in a figurative way. It's not the generation below us, nor the generation above us, but this present generation. If you know you're between the ages of 18 and 30, then I am talking about you. Many of us say bad things about our country and to be honest, I once was like that. Nigerians pray to God everyday for a better nation, but the truth of the matter is that more than 50% of those prayers are void. Why?
Because they lack faith. The same people who pray for a change then turn around and say there's no hope.

What is faith? I surely don't need to define that. Young entrepreneurs, we need not be like our country. If we blend into what already is, then there will be no change. Take our Government for example -a lot of corruption. Once about a year or two ago, a friend of mine told me that if he joined the government in Nigeria, he'll take part of the corruption; according to him "The Government has stolen fro me, so I shall steal from her too. There's a lot of money and I want as much as I can get"

I'm like ????...
If there are many out there that have this same type of mentality, then all I can tell you is that you'll remain in my prayers for as long as it takes.
There's much that needs development in Nigeria -we don't need more people to exploit us, but assist us in seeing our potentials and help us become one nation. Right now, I can't deny the fact that there are new things being implemented into the Country, into the system, but the question we should ask ourselves is "Is that what we really need in Nigeria?"

What do you think is the most important thing a nation needs? We are young Entrepreneurs, some of us are already in the world, some of us are about to step into the world, while some of us will soon join the world. You and me.
It's true, our security system in Nigeria isn't so good, which is why people are reluctant to go back home. Fear. But let me tell you something -The Lord is Our Shepherd and Refuge. As long as we have Him, even though things may happen, He won't let us face it alone.
You are very well educated, you have all the resources to make a difference? Then take that first step and I promise people will follow. The truth is that some aren't as brave as others, but if you're one of the brave ones, you may proceed. We are waiting, Nigeria is waiting and so is the rest of the world.

Rather late than never right?
So as the few of you that read this blog may know, we are 4 founders of rouge empire; 3 in Canada and 1 in Nigeria. As of this year, 1(wunmi, founder of Frevoliz) of us decided to step out to another region...The United states of Amerix!lol.

Wunmi is currently in Alabama some city that sounds like "tuscaloca"....Im sure I dint spell it right. She is being greatly missed as the 3 of us can not have our regular small gathering/sleepover at orodes house where we claim to be discussing about rouge empire. But its all good though, cuz we only hope that Wunmi is working as a co-founder of Rouge that she is, spreading the word, and researching for this huge explosion (Rouge empire) that is yet to blow out.

Ok enuf of the sad memories about Wunmi, she isnt dead.....now to the fun yans about her!
Wunmi has been travelling too much and we are angry (rather I am jealous). In only 1 week she has/will be visiting Texas and Atlanta and meeting up with friends that I havent been that priviledged to meet. And soon she will be going to florida...how much fun can a girl have without her friends/partners....Wunmi answer???

So Im using this blog to call out wunmi and let her kno that I am not happy with her...I do not appreciate her having so much fun without me and finally I/we miss u down here!
Hopefully u get this message.lol

Spring Break, Spring Break

This happens to be a special season for many -especially students. For this period, people start preparing months early. In fact, they save towards it to have a very memorable one. People's ideas are going to Mexico, Florida, Carribeans -basically, warm regions that have beaches or fun attractions.

Spring break is more interesting if going in a group. The cost can be shared, and you'll be able to make more memories that way. If you do not have a camera or none of you in a group do, then I'm sorry to say that that's a wasted vacation; because, when you leave, everything will end there.

So for those who do not have spring break plans one week to spring break, what should they do? Flights and Hotels will surely be more expensive, most good deals would have been taken. Question still is, what do you do? Most cities populated by students would be empty during that period and you'll be left alone. Unless however, you have friends still around and you all can tear the city apart. Paint the walls if you like -especially where it's restricted. Don't worry, you'll only be arrested and stay in jail for a while. Who knows, it may be the duration of the spring break -can you beat that?

All my Spring breaks have pretty much been the same. I've never really placed any big deal on them; until recently...

Nothing to do with...

This probably has nothing to do with Rouge Empire as a whole, but I'm hoping whoever is in charge of the Magazine section will have a separate area for words that people could submit. Just the other day, I was sitting with a piece of paper and pen in hand. These words, began to flow through my fingers as the pen stained the piece of paper in cursive writings:

Sometimes you sit and stare
Sometimes you just don't care
Sometimes you feel alone
Sometimes you don't feel grown

Sometimes you pick at your skin
Sometimes you rub your chin
Sometimes you blink your eyes
Sometimes you press your thighs

Sometimes you think a thought
Sometimes the thought is naught
Sometimes you make a wish
Sometimes you wish languish

Sometimes you smile to me
Sometimes you let things be
Sometimes you're not true
Sometimes you're not you

...

Sometimes you write some words
Sometimes you win awards
But the truth is that no matter what you trust,
Sometimes, sometimes are a must

I decided to save you you from the 10 verses long writing. :)
